Lusitânia (1822)

Voyage Overview

The Brazilian Smack, Lusitânia, left Bahia on 8 July 1822 and purchased 214 enslaved people at Ouidah (no date recorded). The captain, Miguel Antônio Neto, sailed the vessel, owned by José Joaquim Machado, back toward Brazil as intended on 4 December 1822. Only 196 people survived the Middle Passage.
