Divina Providência (1822)

Voyage Overview

The Portuguese Bergantin, Divina Providência, left Bahia 3 July 1822 and purchased 178 enslaved people at Lagos (no date recorded). The captain and owner, João Batista Coelho, sailed the vessel back toward Brazil as intended, when it likely landed at São Salvador da Bahia on 24 November 1822. Only 173 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1822.
